Lisa has been a guest speaker and teaching artist at high schools and universities across the country including, the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, Shenandoah University, Pace University, Boston Conservatory and the Philadelphia School of the Arts. She has also taught classes for such companies as Broadway Classroom, NY Offstage, Camp Broadway, Making It On Broadway and Broadway Plus.

Here is what Clint Williams, Chair of the Performing Arts Program at Sanford School in Hockessin, DE and president of the Delaware Music Educators Association has to say about working with Lisa.

  • “I have witnessed Lisa’s work with students for over 5 years. Her knowledge of singing technique is remarkable and she has a unique way of connecting with each student immediately. In addition to her vocal pedagogy skills, she is an excellent vocal coach. Her insight into the drama of songs is outstanding and I have witnessed marked improvement from every student she has spent time with not only on an individual basis, but in a group setting as well. I enthusiastically endorse Lisa Howard as a voice teacher and vocal coach.”

Class offerings include:

  • Meet the Artist

An intimate discussion about life in the theater with audience Q & A and a 1-2 song performance

  • Acting Your Song

The acting of the song is just as important as the singing! Participants will learn techniques to stay connected to the material, engage with the audience and truly tell the story. *Participants should be prepared to sing a song of choice to be coached in front the group. Please bring sheet music.

  • Musical Theater Audition Workshop

Learn how to take control of your audition experience. Students can expect to learn and work on every aspect of the audition: your audition book, entering the room, working with the accompanist, finding your focus, taking direction and leaving them wanting more. *Participants should bring their audition book and be prepared to sing a 16-32 bar cut of a song that best suits them.

  • Character Development

In this acting class, students will learn how to build their character beyond the words on the page. We will talk about backstory, setting, finding your WANT and the tactics your character uses to get it. We all also utilize physical exercises to help develop the character from the outside in.
